Readers

Broad Ripple Review is seeking thoughtful, detail-oriented readers to assist with reviewing prose submissions ahead of our Fall 2025 launch. Readers will help us evaluate short fiction and creative nonfiction with an eye for language, structure, and emotional resonance. This is an ideal opportunity for writers, editors, or literary enthusiasts who enjoy discovering new work and engaging deeply with the craft of storytelling.

We are looking for readers who:

  • Are passionate about literary prose

  • Can provide clear, concise feedback

  • Are open to a range of styles and voices

This is a volunteer position. All reading is remote and asynchronous. There are no minimum reading requirements. We aim to foster a respectful, collaborative editorial environment. As the publication grows, we hope for there to be future opportunities for dedicated readers to move into editorial roles.

To apply, please message us using this website's contact form and briefly include:

  • A short note about your interest in the role

  • Any relevant experience (reading, editing, or writing)

  • A favorite short story or essay and why it resonates with you

  • A list of a few of your favorite literary journals

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We look forward to hearing from you.

About the Role

We are a prose-centered publication for now, but we are building toward the thoughtful, sustainable addition of poetry in Fall 2026. We are looking for a Poetry Editor who can take the lead in developing this section from the ground up, with support from the Editor-in-Chief. That includes:
